Alice Frances Koury

ALICE FRANCES KOURY, 67, OF EAST COVENTRY Alice Frances (Kenny) Koury, 67, of East Coventry Twp., wife of John A. Koury Jr., peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Born in Johnstown, PA she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Jane (Lucas) Kenny. Alice was a 1963 graduate of Richland High School, Johnstown. She attended the College of Fine Arts of the University of Pittsburgh. With her talent for art and community service, Alice served on many non-profit boards, committees and organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra, the Pottstown Junior Service League, the Pottstown Relay for Life, the Poppy Cat Red Hat Society, the Pottstown Medical Center North Auxiliary, the Board of the Pottstown Signature Page, Meals on Wheels, Owen J. Roberts Friends of the Arts, and the Spat and Slipper Committee, she was a member of Brookside Country Club where she annually painted animal scenes on the children's wading pool. In addition, she provided services as an interior design consultant and was keenly interested in historic preservation in the Greater Pottstown Area. She loved drawing, painting, crafts and creating miniature furniture. Alice was a member of St. Thomas More RC Church. In addition to her husband, with whom she shared over 47 years, Alice is survived by three loving sons John A. Koury III, Joseph Kendall Koury , husband of Lori Beth (Vogel) Koury, and James Elison Koury, and two loving granddaughters, Samantha Jane Koury and Rebecca Julia Koury, all of East Coventry Twp. Her sons and granddaughters were the joys of Alice's life. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at St. Thomas More RC Church, Route 100 and Cadmus Rd., South Coventry Twp., with Rev. Hugh Doughtery officiating. Prior to Mass the family will receive friends at the Church between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Alice F. Koury may be made to the Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House, by check payable to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and sent to Jessie McCulley, Penn Medicine Development and Alumni Relations, 3535 Market St. Suite 750, Phila.
