James Jeffries Obituary

James R. Jeffries, 83, of Pottstown, PA, beloved husband of Penny J. (Wray) Jeffries, and loving father to Bernice A. Jeffries, Brownsburg, Ind.; Kenneth R. Jeffries, Newark, Del.; Claire E. wife of Warren Bays, Terre Haute, Ind.; James L. Jeffries husband of Janet; Dover, Del.; Sharon L. Jeffries, Orchard Park, N.Y.; Alicia L. wife of Gene Harantschuk; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, died Saturday June 18 at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, Pa. He was predeceased by one son, Matthew L. Jeffries, and one grandchild.

Born in Philadelphia, son of the late James R. and Ruth (Jones) Jeffries. Mr. Jeffries was retired from the financial industry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He had attended Exton Baptist Community Church. Mr. Jeffries was a member of the Pottstown Chapter of S.C.O.R.E #594.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home, 359 King St. Pottstown, PA 19464. There will be a viewing from 10 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with services immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Pottstown Chapter of S.C.O.R.E. #594, 244 High St., Pottstown, PA 19464 or The Seeing Eye, 10 Washington Valley Road, Morristown, N,J., 07963.

Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.

Penny, You and Jim have been there for my Sister and our entire family thru good times and bad. We have fond memories of the years shared with our family. Jim was always such a pleasant, happy soul. Please know you are in our thoughts thru this difficult time.
