Unfortunately, I missed out on knowing Jamie as a teenager or young adult. When I think of him I remember an absolutely adorable, bright, happy, little blonde haired blue eyed boy. At least I think he had blue eyes. He was never still for very long so it was not easy to tell. The best thing was his voice. A deep, raspy voice, like a little old man. He had absolutely the best laugh I have ever heard from a little boy or anyone for that matter. Combined with the deep voice just made his laugh the best. Even if you couldn't even see him. Just hearing that laugh brought a big smile to your face.

They say, or genetics says that a child gets 50 % of Mom and 50% of Dad. We have all heard or said "oh she gets that from her Mom" or "from her Dad". Well, there is one thing Jamie got from both of his parents. Some may describe it as stubborn or bullheaded. Irregardless of what you call it that gene doubled up and came out as sheer determination in Jamie. Once he set his mind too it, nothing stopped that little boy. Especially when it came to climbing. Plus, his determination was backed up with a pure lack of fear. The fearlessness and determination together are what made him nearly unstoppable. He also had the ability to see every day objects in a different way then most of us do. Drawers were steps and steps were catapults. He didn't use his hands to play the piano. Why would he after he figured out that he could walk and dance along the piano keys while drinking juice from a sippy cup? I remember walking into the living room on Lewis Road, I think Jamie was maybe 2? Wearing only a diaper, he had climbed up the outer side of the railing of the steps. Literally, there was this baby standing on the outer side of the railing close to the top where the rail met the ceiling. JoAnne yelled "Jamie...". He looked at her with a grin on his face and just let go, dropping maybe 5 or 6 feet (seemed like 10 at the time) to the chair or sofa beneath. My heart sunk. Then after a second or two of silence (which I think was my heart skipping a beat) there it was, that deep voiced belly laugh and with that he was up and heading back to climb up the railing again. I remember thinking it was like gravity didn't have the same force on Jamie as it did on everyone else. He could climb anything, so high, so fast, so effortlessly. The amazing part was that his mind was moving faster then his body mapping out what was usually an uncharted route, making his own path, finding his own way, all too often to places out of reach.

Jamie was taken much much too soon. Even though he may not have been ready, it would come as no surprise that his spirit and determination effortlessly and fearlessly made that climb via his own path to heaven. Once he got there all he had to do was use his key, HIS LAUGH, to open the gate so that now, all the stars in the heavens can shine brighter and brighter on those he loved every time his laugh is heard.

John, Rachael, Alexa, Tom and Joanne our hearts go out to all of you. As well as to your family and all those who loved him.

With deepest sympathy,,
Laurie, David, Lauren, Matt & Jessica (or as Jamie used to say JECKIE)
