Newton Longacre Obituary

Newton Treichler Longacre, 73, of Barto, husband of Julia A. (Buchak) Longacre, passed away on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at his residence.
Born in Bally, he was the son of the late Kathryn H. (Treichler) and Daniel E. Longacre.
He was a 1960 graduate of Boyertown High School. Newton served as a military mechanic at ByBerry. He was a member of Bally Mennonite Church. Mr. Longacre is co-owner of Longacre's Modern Dairy in Barto. Newton was a volunteer fireman for 50 years for Bally Fire Company. He is the current president of the Bally Community Ambulance Board and the current Washington Township Auditor. He also served on the Washington Township Sewer Authority. He enjoyed attending Auctions and flea markets. There is not a local auction house that does not have his number. He found great joy in his work in dairy and was always eager to lend a helping hand or help someone in need. He had a generous heart, but it was too weak to sustain him.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years are two sons, Newton T. Longacre II of Reading and Jason E. Longacre, husband of Kerri of Barto; seven grandsons, Daulton R. Longacre, Dylan Newton Longacre, Devon S. Longacre, Max H. Longacre, Wyatt E. Longacre, Chase K. Longacre and Ely K. Longacre; two brothers, Daniel T. Longacre of Bally and Timothy T. Longacre of Bally and two sisters, Kathryn T. Longacre of Bally and Diane T. Longacre of Reading.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Bally Mennonite Church, 1481 Route 100, Bally, PA 19503. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. at Bally Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Bally Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bally Community Ambulance, PO Box 353, Bally, PA 19503.
Arrangements are by the Morrell Funeral Home Inc., (www.MorrellFuneralHome.com).
