Nicholas Benedetto Obituary

Mr. Nicholas Dominic Benedetto, age 77, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Newark, DE, died on Monday, January 3, 2011, at Jennersville Regional Hospital in West Grove, PA. Mr. Benedetto was born in Greentree Hollow, PA, on August 12, 1933, son of the late Mary Grace (Taraborelli) and Carmen Benedetto. With his wife, Phyllis, he owned and operated the former Wrangle Hill Auto Auction in New Castle, DE, for 20 years until their retirement in 2000. An expert vintage car historian, he was also the curator/proprietor of the former Wrangle Hill Classic Car Museum in Glasgow, DE. Mr. Benedetto was devoted to animals throughout his life and delighted in caring for his pet cats, Tyson, Sammi, Chloe, and Montana. His beloved wife, Phyllis Mae "Phyl" Jones Benedetto, died in 2008. He is survived by his son, Mario Dominic Benedetto (Carolyn); daughter, Julie Helfrich; sisters, Ida Baker, Christina Bearden, Madelyn Butler, and Rose Whitson; sister-in-law, Darlene Benedetto; brother-in-law, Leonard Jones (Beverly); grandchildren, Christina Marie Woodland (Paul), Anthony Dominic Benedetto, and Vincent Carmen Benedetto, and Laurie Helfrich. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Helfrich. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
