Nicholas Bierer Obituary

NICHOLAS W. BIERER, 19, OF KIMBERTON Nicholas W. Bierer, 19, of Kimberton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, May 15, 2011, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Bryn Mawr, he was a son of Edward W. "Ted" Bierer Sr. and Renae (Pfitzenmeyer) Bierer of Kimberton and Darlene M. (Zentgraf) Bierer, of Malvern. Anyone who knows Nick would agree he was a great kid with an uncanny sense of humor. He would say not wearing his seatbelt was "A ROOKIE MISTAKE." According to the North Coventry Police investigator and the medical investigator, if Nick was wearing his seatbelt you would not be reading this obituary today and Nick would go on living his life. Please remember to "Click For Nick." Nick was a 2009 graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School and was on the verge of moving on in life, recently applying to Delaware County Community College. He played ice hockey for 10 years, playing for the Inaugural season on the Phoenixville Middle School Ice hockey team, the West Chester Quakers and the Valley Forge Colonials. One of his fondest memories in hockey was playing all night at 15 below zero outside a hotel in a tournament in Montreal on a frozen pond - dumping his teammates in the snowbanks. He was employed at Patriot GMC in Boyertown as an automotive technician and had a passion for sports cars. Nick loved video games, technology, and computers. He was a gamer, having enjoyed playing World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Halo, Madden and NHL games using the handle "ptblhky1496." He loved and followed all pro sports in this order: football, hockey, basketball, baseball. He always had a favorite, knew and was into stats, and knew the best players on the team before anyone else. He loved hot sauce, buffalo chicken cheesesteaks from Roccos. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and family dog, Buster. He had an inquisitive mind and loved to travel. He loved Haleakala, a volcano on the island of Maui, when he visited during a family vacation. In Galapagos he loved the Galapagos sea lions and blue footed boobies. He loved and wanted to run with the wolves when he visited Montana while in middle school. He planned to go to Europe this summer. In addition to his parents, Nick is survived by two brothers, Edward W. "Ted" Bierer Jr. of San Diego and Matthew W. Bierer, at home; a sister, Alyson Bierer at home; paternal grandparents, William E. and Alice Bierer of Charlestown Township; maternal grandparents, George and Marie Pfitzenmeyer of Spring City; maternal grandmother, Diane Palen of New Jersey, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, on Friday, May 20, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas Hanson. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Nick's name to Hawai'i Wildlife Fund at www.wildhawaii.org. Condolences may be offered online at www.PhoenixvilleFuneralHome.com.

Ted & family,
We were so sorry to have learned of Nick's passing. Rob remembers Nick fondly from BSHS and he in fact learned of Nick's death soon after it happened via BSHS facebook buddies. He was devastated by the news. PLease know you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May memories of him sustain you during your sadness and may he live on in your hearts forever.
We can not imagine the grief you all must be going through. Please know you are not alone- God, friends and family are all there to help carry you until life becomes more bearable. No doubt with the strength of Nick's spirit solidly at your side, you will heal and carry on until you meet again. God Bless!

Although we had not seen Nick in years, the memories of our boys playing hockey is such an amaxzing one. The trips we took, and the way the boys were friends on and off the ice will forever be a wonderful memory. We as a family are so saddened by your loss, and cannot tell you how much we are praying for all of you in this time. May god be with you all. The Menta Family

Darlene,

My heart goes out to you and your family in your time of grief. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about Nicholas's death.
"Let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart."
