RAYMOND E. UMSTEAD, 88, OF SPRING CITY Raymond E. Umstead, 88, of Spring City, husband of the late Mary Jane (Powell) Umstead passed away on Monday morning September 1, 2014. Raymond was born in Spring City a son to the late Leroy and Viola (Erb) Umstead. Raymond resided his whole life in Spring City. He was a graduate of the former Spring City High School., served two years in the Army Corp of Engineers, served in the United States Army during World War II Technician Company C, 325th Engineer Battalion in the 100th Infantry Division in Germany and France. Raymond attended Penn State and Ursinus College studied engineering and business administration. He was employed for 22 years at the former B.F. Goodrich Tire Company and served on their Credit Union Board of Directors for many years. Also employed as Office Manager of Valley Forge Credit Union for four years, and after retirement form B.F. Goodrich Ray was employed as Lower Pottsgrove Township Manager for 17 years. Raymond served four years on Spring City Borough Council, a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church, where he served many years on the financial committee. A life member of the Liberty Fire Company, Spring City and Friendship hook an d Ladder Fire Company, Royersford, where he enjoyed being on the Bowling teams for many years and a member of the Spring City Thomas W. O'Connor Post 602 American Legion. After retirement Ray and Mary Jane purchased a home on Florida where he spent of his winters playing golf. He is survived by daughters: Sandi wife of Paul Rosenberry, Sallie wife of Paul Isanski, Scott Umstead, and Tim Umstead husband of Dianne and grandchildren: Jennifer Ford, Marc Umstead, Ben Umstead, Amanda Wagner, Dan Umstead, Matt Umstead, Tiffany Isanski and five great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attendhis funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Spring City United Methodist Church, 45 N. Church Street, Spring City, PA the Rev. Dennis Keen Officiating. Burial to follow in the Limerick Garden Of Memories.
