Sandra Souder Salkeld de Holl, 78, of Wilmington , NC died May 27 at her daughter’s home in Oakton, VA under the care of her family and Capital Caring Hospice. Sandy was born on October 16, 1939 in Bryn Mawr, PA to Frederick I. and Mary M. Souder (McMahon) and was raised in Paoli, PA. She attended Conestoga High School and Cedar Crest College. She resided in Chester Springs, PA and Wilmington, NC. She was predeceased by her husbands George Morgan Salkeld III and John Rinehart de Holl. She is survived by many family members including her daughters Allison Salkeld Goldfarb (David) and grandchildren Kate and Jonah, all of Oakton, VA and Susan Teesdale Salkeld of West Palm Beach, FL; her brother John F. Souder (Carol); niece Lisa Souder Sommer (Richard) and their son Ethan; niece Lori Elizabeth Souder; and nephews Scott Salkeld and his daughter Abby; Brett Salkeld (Sarah) and their children Chloe, John, and Leah; and Matthew Salkeld (Yvette) and their children Lucy, Stella, and Ryan. She is also survived by step daughter Alexandra de Holl Robinson (Brooks) and grandchildren Brooks III, Cece, and Cameron of Pittsburgh, PA and step son Andrew Carter de Holl (Molly Gould) and grandchildren Henry and Daisy of San Anselmo, CA. She worked for the General Electric Corp. in Human Resources for the Aerospace Division, was a homemaker and mother, and later, a real estate agent in Chester County, PA. Sandy was an avid gardener and lifelong learner who treasured her association with and friendships grown in the Twin Valleys Garden Club, Herb Society of America, Cape Fear Garden Club, Master Gardeners Association of New Hanover County, NC and volunteering for the National Arboretum in Washington DC, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Historic Yellow Springs, and Ludwigs Corner Horse Show Association. She was a member of St Peters Pikeland United Church of Christ in Chester Springs, PA with her husband, George, for many years. A private burial service will be held in Chester Springs, PA and celebrations of her life will be held in Chester Springs and Wilmington, NC, at later dates.
