Sgt. John DiSabatino

Sgt. John DiSabatino died April 5, 2021 of incurable brain cancer in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Bryn Mawr hospital in Lower Merion Township, PA the son of the late Samuel E. DiSabatino Sr. and Anna (Chico) DiSabatino. He grew up in Phoenixville, PA and was a 1952 graduate of Phoenixville High School. He joined the United States Air Force in July of 1952. In 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Carol A. Yarnall, and continued his career in the U.S.A.F. The couple enjoyed an interesting life of travel with military assignments in Alaska, England, Japan, Turkey, and many others. He also served in Viet Nam and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He was also awarded the Air Force commendation medal, the Air Force good conduct medal, and was a graduate of the Air Force Security Service non-commissioned officers academy. During his 23 year military career he dabbled in sports including football, tennis, and volleyball. Ultimately golf became his passion and he was a member of Spring-Ford Country Club in PA. After moving to San Antonio in 2018 of course he became a Spurs fan! John was also a remarkably talented musician. He played the saxophone, drums, guitar, and bass fiddle in various bands throughout his life. Upon his retirement from the U.S.A.F. John entered the travel business. He spent 27 years working for Liberty travel, rising to the position of district manager. He was responsible for over 20 branch offices in three states, and retired from his second career in 2005. He was pre-deceased by his brother Samuel E. DiSabatino Jr., his sister-in-law Lucy, and niece Mary Ann. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 64 years, children John, of San Antonio TX, Michael, of Royersford PA, Jill, of Robstown TX, and grandchildren Krysta, Sofia, and Dominic. Also nieces Cheryl, Lisa, Sandra, and their families, and many friends all across the country. John will be remembered especially for his winning personality, original wit, sense of humor, and generous nature. His ashes will be interred in his hometown cemetery at a future date.
