Aaron West Obituary
Port Ewen, NY - Aaron V West Jr., passed away Sunday March 4, 2012 at his residence.
Aaron was born May 27,1954 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was the son of Mozell (Colden) West and the late Aaron V. West Sr. Aaron was a 1973 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
He retired from the Dutchess County Sheriff Department in 1992 where he was a sergeant for 17 years. Aaron also was employed from 1994-96 for Coco-Cola in Newburgh, NY. In 2002 he began work at Se'Lux Electronics of Highland, and was there for 10 years.
Aaron was a loving and devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. In addition to his mother, Mozell West of Poughkeepsie, NY, he is survived by one son, Aaron V.West III of Poughkeepsie; three daughters, Chenille West, Tawana Williams both of Poughkeepsie and Lydia Williams of Cedar Hill, TX.
He was the proud pop-pop of eight grandchildren; Josiah, Tyshom, Dahamari, Kyasiah, Denajah, Jahz'e, Kenejah and Asan. A devoted friend, Chance Ireland of Port Ewen, NY,who was always there for him. Aaron is also survived by one brother, Shawn Dancy of Poughkeepsie; two sisters, Elain Dancy-Davis of New Haven, CT and Regina Dancy of Poughkeepsie; one godson, Christopher Durlacher of Wappingers Falls, NY; two god-daughters, Felicia Bush of Dallas,TX and Camelia Daniels of Poughkeepsie. Special cousins, Pam Lewis of Baltimore, MD and Frederick Colden (Vivian) of Danbury, CT.
Aaron was predeceased by a sister, Vikki West; brother, Darnell Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Mr & Mrs Clifford West, maternal grandparents, Mr & Mrs John Colden Sr. and step-father Thurman Dancy. Visitation 10am-11am Monday March 12, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie. Services 11am at the church. Reverend Jesse V. Bottoms officiating. Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
