Professor Pregnall was my scuba instructor back in 1992. He was thoughtful, sweet and generally a special human being. I was the only one who was free for the final scuba test but that did not deter him- He drove me to RI School of Design where we spent the night and then scuba dove the next day in the murky water of the north atlantic. A mensch of a guy who was dedicated to teaching and to making a difference in people's lives.

Mr. Pregnall was my very favorite teacher in my life. I was fortunate enough to travel, do marine research and scuba dive with him in NY, Belize and Oregon. He had a large influence on my life, such a kind man and wonderful teacher. My heart goes out to Maribel, Drake (who I used to baby sit!) and daughter. Brenda Arnett '96

My heart goes out to Bill, Joye, Gabrielle, and Stuart. I recall Marshall as a gifted, happy, and fun friend to an older law student. Even though I haven't seen him in years, I morn his loss to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. Bill will always be my mentor in ministry, Joye my mentor in literature, Gabrielle and Stuart my "young" friends. I know I can be proud of who Gabrielle and Stuart have become. Marshall and his family are in my prayers. Thank each of you for what you have given me and for what you mean to me. May Marshall rest in peace and rise in glory.

Dr. Pregnall and his family lived next door to me in Main Building during my freshman year at Vassar. While I can't speak to him as a teacher, I remember him personally as a kind and generous man who cared about his young neighbors. He always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello. My thoughts go out to Maribel, Drake, and Hali, and their extended family and friends.

Professor Pregnall gave me the single most important piece of advice I received as a student at Vassar. He told me to learn Spanish and go to the tropics. I did exactly that and now work as a foreign service environment officer. RIP. -
