Anna M. Siebold

Rhinebeck - Anna M. Siebold, 96, of Rhinebeck, NY, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Born January 7, 1921 in Tusa, Sicily to the late Francesco Paulo and Orsola (Faulise) Sammataro, she immigrated as an infant through Ellis Island.

Following her marriage to Dyton George Siebold in February of 1947, Anna moved from her childhood home in Pawcatuck, CT, to Rhinecliff, NY and later to Rhinebeck. Anna was married 70 years to her husband George, who survives her.

She was a passionate homemaker for her family and held a variety of jobs. Anna first worked as an exceptional cook for the Scanlon family in Rhode Island and during WWII she supported the war effort by working at Hamilton Standard, a propeller manufacturing facility. Later in her life she was employed at Rotron in Poughkeepsie.

Anna was a former parishioner at the Good Shephard Church, an avid gardener, voracious reader and a master in the kitchen. She volunteered her time and taught food preservation classes for the Cooperative Extension.

In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by her son, Paul Siebold and wife Ellen of Rhinebeck; her siblings, John (Jack) Sammataro of Pawcatuck, CT, Carmella Moore of Stonington, CT and Rosemarie DeVivo of Wallingford, CT. Anna is also survived by three grandchildren, Alex Siebold of Aurora, OH, Maxwell Siebold of Middletown, NY, and Hannah Benga of Rhinebeck; two great grandsons William and Eric Siebold as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Anna is predeceased by her daughter, Joan Siebold and her sisters, Margaret Sarrasin and Josephine Urso.

Funeral arrangements will be held as a private service at the Rhinebeck Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anna's name to the Jayne Brooks Memorial Food Pantry at the Church of Messiah in Rhinebeck (P.O. Box 248, Rhinebeck, NY 12572) or to the Rhinecliff Fire Department (P.O. Box 6, Rhinecliff, NY 12574).
