Anthony Iannucci

MILLBROOK - Anthony Iannucci, 91, of Millbrook died Friday, December 16, 2011 at Sharon Hospital, Sharon CT.

Born in Fondi, Italy on November 15, 1920 he was the son of Giuseppe and Assunta Pannozzo Iannucci. Tony served his country during WW-II with the US Army from 1942-1946. On November 10, 1946 at Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, he married Gilda Nardone. Mrs. Iannucci survives at home.

Tony graduated from Millbrook High School in 1940 and was valedictorian of his class.

He began his career as a chef at the Millbrook Diner and continued his culinary skills for 30 years at Daniele's Restaurant in Millbrook. He then went to work with the US Postal Service for the next 19 years and retired from the Millbrook Post Office in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook.

Tony was an avid walker and was well known for his daily walks in and around the Village of Millbrook. Always a kind and gentle soul, he never had an unkind word to say about anyone.

In addition to his wife Gilda, he is survived by his 3 children; Anthony J. Iannucci and his wife Suzanne of Fishkill, Kathleen Edmonds of Millbrook and Joseph Iannucci and his wife Mary Karp-Iannucci of Millbrook; his 6 grandchildren, Christopher Edmonds and his wife Kristy, Gina Iannucci, Stephen Edmonds, Alison Iannucci, Brianna Iannucci and Emily Karp; his great grandson, Thomas Christopher Edmonds; sister, Filomena Turner of Schenectady; brothers, Joseph Iannucci of Herndon,VA. and Gino Iannucci of Millbrook; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, December 19 from 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 am Tuesday, December 20 at St. Joseph 's Church, North Ave., Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Millbrook.

Memorial donations may be made in Tony's memory to St. Joseph's Church or Hospice of Dutchess County.
