Barbara Dickett Obituary

Barbara J. Dickett

Clinton, NY - Barbara J. Dickett, 77, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at her home in Clinton.

Born May 2, 1941 in Yonkers she was the daughter of Edward and Gladys (King) Konrad.

Barbara was a talented artist and painted folk art and nature scenes; many of her works have been sold in New York and Maine, and at local craft fairs and art shows.

A devoted mother, Barbara was a Boy Scout leader for her sons Billy, Mike and Brian; and a 4-H leader for Lisa and Brian. She taught them to care for rabbits; and shared her knowledge of arts, crafts and woodworking.

At home, Barbara was a talented cook and baker; many of her confectionaries, breads were sold at the Green Market in New York City, and shared with family and friends.

With her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 55 years, William 'Bill' Dickett, Sr., she enjoyed travel, especially to Alaska and Hawaii; and fishing.

Her husband, children, and friends will remember her outgoing personality, and her willingness to lend a hand or help out in any way.

Barbara is survived by her husband, her cherished children William E. (Andrea) Dickett, Jr. of Washington, DC; Michael A. (Tara) Dickett of Clinton; Lisa A Walton of Clinton; and Brain D. (Rozlyn) Dickett of Los Angles; three grandchildren, Austin, Maghnus and Nola; and a brother Edward (Aija) Konrad of Atlanta.

Calling hours are Saturday, September 29th, 12-2 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. A time of reflection will begin at 1:45.

I loved Aunt Barb, very, very much! She was one of my favorite people and I wish I could have afforded to visit more often. Whenever we kids knew we were going to see her and family, it was always exciting! I was honored to be part of her wedding. It also was the reason I adore champagne! Lol! Aunt Barb was easy to talk to. She was wise, witty and full of fun. I miss her very, very much!

To the entire Dickett Family,
I had the pleasure of knowing Barbara from North Park School. I had both her children, Brian and Lisa as students. She was an amazing woman who fully supported our school initiatives. I still have a keepsake recipe box that she made for me which was indicative of her artistic abilities. She was a go getter and went the extra mile. If I wasn't away I would definitely be at the calling hours. There are so many reasons that Barbara will be cherished in the hearts of family and friends.
