Poughkeepsie - Carlos Ray Miller, 53, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, New York, peacefully entered eternal life on September 4, 2016, surrounded by his wife and devoted family at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.
He was born on January 7, 1963 to Carol Jean Miller and the late Johnny Ray Miller.
Carlos leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and dedicated wife, Stephanie (Freeman) Miller who faithfully stood by his side, and their daughter, Jada Sere Miller of Wake Forest, NC; mother, Carol Jean Miller of Poughkeepsie, NY; 4 sons, Anton Miller of Queens, NY, Carlos Miller Jr (Jessica) of West Palm Beach, FL, Dwayne Miller of Albany, NY and Ky-Heime Miller of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter, Shenique Harris of West Palm Beach, FL and 8 grandchildren. He also leaves behind a devoted brother, Garnell Miller of Baltimore, MD; loving and loyal sisters, Carla Moss (Billy Ray) of Spartanburg, SC and LaKeisha (Matthew) Swinton of Poughkeepsie, NY; uncle, Alton Walden of Poughkeepsie, NY; great uncle, Ryland Bradley of Hampton, VA; father-in-law, Robert (Bucky) Freeman of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Kim Freeman of Wake Forest, NC; special cousins, Vibeka Dixon of Maryland and Yolanda McMillan of Poughkeepsie, NY; God-brother, Eric McRae and God-daughter Amani Amour Harrell both of Poughkeepsie, NY, and very close friend Howard Shell of New York, NY, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Johnny Ray Miller; maternal grandparents, DW and Annie Mae Walden; paternal grandparents, Johnny and Martha Miller; and mother-in-law, Gloria J. Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research (MDS) at www.mds-foundation.org.
Mr. Miller will repose 9-11 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Service at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Jesse V. Bottoms Jr. will officiate. Entombment at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery/Community Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie, NY. 12601.
