Clarence Munson, III

EAST FISHKILL - Clarence Munson III, of Hopewell Junction, died on March 20, 2021 at the age of 90 years old at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. Born on October 28, 1930 in Cold Spring, New York, Clarence was the son of Eleanora & Clarence Munson, Jr.

Clarence was a graduate of Croton Harmon High School and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 518th Signal Radio Relay Company. After service in Korea, Clarence joined Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation and proudly served as their district representation in East Fishkill for almost 38 years.

On September 25, 1954, Clarence married Charlotte Maier at St. John the Evangelist Church in White Plains. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. Clarence enjoyed golfing, dancing, & traveling. He was a life member of the Poughkeepsie Elks #275, a 42-year member of the Poughkeepsie Moose #904, an exempt Hopewell Hose fireman, and a member of the American Legion Post 1758.

Clarence is survived by his wife, daughter Wendy Schuler (Norman), son Robert Munson (Min), daughter-in-law Angela Munson, his 5 granddaughters- Rachel Carter (Dustin), Lauren Whitaker (Brian), Sarah Cooke (Phillip), Stephanie Way (Daniel Joyce), Hollie Way (Mike McGrinder), and great grandchildren- Shelby & Dylan Carter, Addison & Hudson Whitaker, Lane & Cameron Cooke, & Charlotte Paesano. Other survivors include nieces-Linda Flint (Jack) and Barbara Thomasetti, and nephew - Richard Pohle (Susan). He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws- Anselm & Agnes Maier, sons- Ronald and William Munson, his sister and brother-in-law- Eleanora & Leo Clapsadle, sister-in-law & brother-in-law- Anna Marie & Arthur Pohle, and brother James Munson.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533, followed by internment at Hopewell Cemetery.

It has been a pleasure to be your neighbors. Clarence was a kind and helpful man and I enjoyed chatting with him and learning from him.
So sorry for your loss, but how wonderful to have been married for 66 years!
