Crocifissa A. "Chris" Garitta

Poughkeepsie, NY - Crocifissa A. "Chris" Garitta, 92, a local Poughkeepsie resident of over 60 years passed away Friday, June 20th at The Pines in Poughkeepsie. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 8, 1921 the daughter of the late Diego and Frances Garitta. Chris was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She attended Poughkeepsie Schools and worked for St. Francis Hospital as a manager in the admitting office before her retirement in 1983 after 31 years.

Chris was a very kind and loving person to everyone and will be dearly missed. She was famous for her homemade pasta. The Family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses on the 5th floor at The Pines for their special care.

Chris is survived by her close cousins Carmelo Garitta, Rose Garitta, Linda and Dr. Michael Chianese, Joanne and Michael D'Adamo, Anne and Ken Gomola, Michael Garitta, Rodney and Andrea Garitta, Marianne and Steven Eckelman, Anthony Garitta, John Garitta and good friends Pam Garitta, Tomasina Manfredi, Ben Carpino and Connie Laguzza. She was predeceased by Cousins Carlo, Joseph & Sister Rosalie Garitta along with Mary Garitta.

Calling hours will be held Friday, June 27th from 10 am-12 noon at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian burial will follow the calling hours at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie followed by burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
