Sergeant Demaio was a proud and respected Marine. I am honored to have served with him and will never forget him. He touched many people's hearts and always looked out for Marines junior to him. My prayers and thoughts are with the DeMaio family. There is no more devastating loss than the death of a child. Seems like only yesterday we were sitting on the bleachers watching him and my son Michael play little league at boyce park together, such a great kid If only we could turn back the hands of time. Although like many on here I never met Danny, I enjoyed listening to countless stories of Danny growing up, finding himself and his decision to join the USMC while having the privilege of working side by side with his grandmother, Fran.

My heart is broken for the entire DeMaio family, especially Joanne, Chris, Chris, Walter and Fran. I love you dearly and cannot imagine the pain you are going through. You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Thank you all for raising an amazing young man. Danny was a true American hero. Thank you for serving our country and for being a joy in your grandmother's life.

I had the honor and privilege to serve with Daniel for the past 3 years. He was a "get it done" Marine, and he was dedicated and caring not only towards the Marines he worked with but his country as well! I, as I know everyone that knew this young man and Marine will miss him dearly and fondly. I am and will continue to pray for Daniel's family, friends, and ALL the Marines lives he has touched with his presence while here on earth. Semper Fidelis Sgt "D" I will always remember our last conversation when you told me "stay encouraged all will be OK!" you are now at rest Marine, Top Neal
