Daniel Pasco Obituary
Red Hook - Daniel W. Pasco, 72, of Hudson and a longtime Red Hook area resident, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born on June 27th, 1944, in Corvallis, OR, he was the son of the late Peter D and Virginia (Morse) Pasco. Daniel married Gwen Gardner on July 3, 1982 in Ghent, NY, and she survives at home in Hudson.
Daniel served in the United States Air Force Military Police.
For many years and until his retirement, Dan worked as a 2nd Level Social Studies Teacher at Red Hook High School in Red Hook, NY. Following his retirement, and for the next 25 years, Dan was an entrepreneur- he owned and operated "The Outpost"; a discount beverage store in Livingston, NY; Pasco Screen Printing; a Bed and Breakfast; and the Moosehead Tavern in Claverack. Dan also was an owner and breeder of thoroughbred horses.
Always active, Dan was a former member of the Red Hook VFW Post # 7765. He coached both Red Hook High School Football and Baseball, he played softball for many years throughout the Hudson Valley, and is a member of the Hudson Valley Softball "Hall of Fame".
In addition to his loving wife Gwen, he is survived by his children; Peter (Victoria) Pasco of Germantown, NY, Ashley Pasco of Hudson, NY, Katarina Pasco of Hudson, NY, and Lance Drake of Lynchburg, VA; a sister, Linda Hamilton of Saratoga, NY; two brothers, Ronald Pasco of Augusta, ME, and Gary Pasco of Red Hook, NY; his grandchildren, Caitlin (Adam) Rice of Philmont, NY, Alyssa, Kelsey, Dana, and Brady Pasco- all of Germantown, NY; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. A Celebration of Dan's life with Military Honors will be held at 7 pm. Interment will be private.
Memorial donations may be made in Daniel's memory to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation- PO Box 834, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or on their website at: trfinc.org.

To Linda, Gary, Gwen, and the whole Pasco family,
People are with themselves all throughout life, but the rest of us are left with fragments, large or small, of another person. My most vivid memory of Danny was watching him practice by himself, kicking field goals and punting at the Red Hook schoolyard field, as well as doing sprints up and down the field. I always thought of Danny as a real athlete, since no coach was nearby, no one yelling at him to do what he was practicing with such intensity, seriousness, and what seemed like simple joy. Like so many of the people we grew up with in Red Hook in the 1950’s and ‘60’s, I think of Danny as playing football, baseball, or just being a good sport, all around. I did not know Danny as well as Gary, but he always smiled when I saw him and took time to talk with me too, even when all of us were still growing up; that one of the bigger kids did that meant a lot to me at the time and instructs me still. Danny, you and the rest of the Pasco family, as well as the memory of your mother and father, whom I always, always enjoyed seeing, are in my thoughts.

Dan, Gwen, Gary, Linda and all, please forgive me for missing services. I only learned of your passing yesterday. I plan to pay my respects to you, to Gary, Linda, your children, grand children, nieces, new-hews, brothers in Law, Ron, And Regina as well. We go way way way back, don't we? I mean, yes I was Friends with the whole Pasco family from the start on Aouth Broadway, with Gary and I first making friends. You we a sports hero to all of and a great guy, always friendly through the years. Linden Avenue, All baseball, football and basketball games. Notes over at your house with lovely Ginny, Pete, Linda and Gary. We watched scary sci fi movies later than I Normally was allowed to stay up at my house. Always watched what you and Pete were glued to the t.v. Watching the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox. Thank you very very much for being so friendly and nice to my parents through all the years. They always liked you..all of your family. I didn't know Gwen as well, but enough to know the two of you had a very successful marriage. May you keep hitting that fastball where ever you are. Hoping to see you sooner or later. With kind regards and my deepest sympathies For all, I say Good Bye, Danny Pasco.
