Darryl VonRichthofen Obituary
Dover Plains - Darryl Karl VonRichthofen, 74, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. VonRichthofen was a rehabilitation assistant at the Wassaic Developmental Center for 32 years retiring in 1995. He was also a deli clerk at Grand Union in Amenia, NY for 17 years until 1997.
Born on March 19, 1941 in Rhinebeck, NY he was the son of the late Ernest August and Mammie Frances (Sherman) VonRichthofen. Mr. VonRichthofen attended Sharon Center School class of 1959 and graduated from Housatonic Regional High School class of 1959. He received his Associates Degree from Dutchess Community College in 1973.
Mr. VonRichthofen proudly served in the US Marine Corps. from 1960 - 1964. On April 9, 1965 in Dover Plains, NY he married Paula Prochaska who survives at home. Mr. VonRichthofen was a life member of American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY and was a leader of the Webelos Pack #39. He was also a member of the Dover Plains United Methodist Church in Dover Plains, NY.
In addition to his wife, Mr. VonRichthofen is survived by his two sons, Karl VonRichthofen of Deland, FL and Paul VonRichthofen of Dover Plains, NY; a brother, Ernest VonRichthofen of Canton, CT and a sister, Karen Ellis of Sharon, CT. Besides his parents, Mr. VonRichthofen was predeceased by a brother, Frederick VonRichthofen and a sister, Janet VonRichthofen.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
