Donald Pottenburgh Obituary
Pottenburgh Sr.
Hyde Park - Donald F. Pottenburgh Sr., 93, of Hyde Park, died Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
A lifelong area resident, he was born May 29, 1922 in Tivoli; the son of the late Frederick and Florence Lynk Pottenburgh.
Don proudly served in the Army during World War II. He had attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Pottenburgh was a General Contractor. Along with his sons, he ran D.F. Pottenburgh & Sons for many years, until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of the Hyde Park American Legion Post #1303, the Washington Hollow Gun Club in Pleasant Valley, and the Moose Lodge #904, Hyde Park.
On June 7, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Gloria Jean Briggs. Mrs. Pottenburgh predeceased him on September 25, 2007.
Don is survived by his three children, Donna Jean Hutchings and husband, Harold, Donald F. Pottenburgh Jr., and Michael F. Pottenburgh Sr. and wife, Jean; six grandchildren, Donald F. Pottenburgh III, Richard A. Pottenburgh, Michael Pottenburgh Jr., Kimberly Hutchings, Stephanie Pottenburgh Lott, and Michelle Pottenburgh Raetz; great grandchildren, Emily and Brandon Pottenburgh, and Kaden and Cameron Lott; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his three brothers.
Services and burial with military honors in the family plot in Rhinebeck Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
