It saddens me so the passing of "Mom" Hamilton. She was such an inspiration to me as a young girl. She molded me into the woman I am today. I remember going to Ohio for a vacation to visit Jim's parents one winter with my sister, Jim and her. Deborah and Gayle were babies in Greer Cottage way back then. I am so glad I reconnected with her at the 2010 reunion. My heartfelt condolences to her family. She will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her. With much love. . .

I have so many memories of Mrs. Hamilton, when she and Mr. Hamilton were my houseparents at Greer Cottage. They, and their children, were all a part of my childhood. I'm so pleased that I was able to speak with her again at our last reunion. She was a very gentle and caring person and will be truly missed.

Eleanor and Jim were wonderful houseparents at Greer. They were kind and gentle, but managed to keep sometimes unruly adolescents in line.

So very glad that I was able to see Eleanor at the Greer School's 2010 Reunion. I had Jim as my 7th Grade teacher. They were both very special and gracious people - setting an excellent example for living Life. We are all blessed to have known them.

Eleanor was a sweet & warm person. Someone you felt you could confide in & she would listen. She & Jim helped me make my move from Greer to Minnesota over 52 years ago. God Bless her.

My grandmother's older sister, Aunt Eleanor has always had such a special place in my heart. Her generosity and kindness I always appreciated and her love for learning and books I always admired. She inspired me to take on cross word puzzles - she made it look so fun and do-able. Unfortunately I never made it out of the "easy" section of my book. A beautiful, intelligent, loving woman. I feel lucky for the experiences I shared with her and her family. I love you, Aunt El.

Although, I never had her as a teacher at AHS, I remember her fondly as I would find my friend, Mike (AHS class of '88), hanging out in the halls. Over time, I knew which class he was skipping out on. She knew me only by face as I would bring him to her class, open up the door to shove him in & close it behind me. She would give me a nod to say Thanks. I ran into Mike just a few weeks ago. We always talk about that memory. 8-) To the Hamilton family-I'm sorry for your loss. May the memories you created together help bring you comfort. What a beautiful photo of her. May she rest in peace.

Although I knew Eleanor for a short time in the Silver Sneakers program I came to look forward to seeing & talking with her. She had such an interest and enthusiasm in life it made her seem like a very young person in an older body. Eleanor touched many in the program and will be sorely missed by all her friends. Blessings and condolances to her family.

The highlight of our summer, when we were kids, was the annual trip to our cousins and to see our favorites, "Uncle Jim and Aunt Eleanor". Aunt Eleanor's quiet strength, warm smile and easy laugh always made us feel more than welcome and part of her family. We will miss but always remember Aunt Eleanor...
