Emily DiStasio Obituary
Calabash, NC - Emily Marian DiStasio, 83, of Calabash, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. She was born on June 5, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter of the late Dominic and Julia Vallo Cervone. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aldo DiStasio and a son, Peter DiStasio. She was a commissioner of the Town of Calabash and was very active in her community.
Surviving are her sons, Dante DiStasio, of Wappingers Falls, NY; three daughters, Laureen AbouEid, of Calabash, Christina Wardell, & husband, David, of Rhinebeck, NY, and Kathleen Garcia, & husband, Phil, of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at (time) on (date) in St. Brendans Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice in her memory. To send an online condolence please visit www.brunswickfuneralservice.com A memorial service will take place on Friday October 3rd. 10:30am at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of funeral home on Vassar St. Inurnment will be private at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum in Poughkeepsie.

I was the town attorney for Calabash during some of her tenure as an elected official. She was hard-working and thoughtful in all of her work for the town. She will be missed a great deal.
