Frank Fallon Obituary

Frank J. Fallon

POUGHKEEPSIE - Frank J. Fallon, 85, an area resident since 1972 and formerly of the Bronx, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home with his loving wife and daughters at his side.

Born in the Bronx on February 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Margaret Dwyer Fallon. Frank had been employed by Manufacturers Hanover for 40 years until his retirement in 1986. He then worked at the Fishkill National Bank for many years.

Frank was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Counter. He also attended Mass at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. A talented artist, he enjoyed sharing his paintings with family and friends.

Frank was a very kind and gentle man who was deeply devoted to his wife of 63 years and to his family and many friends. His great sense of humor and smile that lit up the world made it easy for him to make friends wherever he went. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all.

On July 15, 1950, Frank married the love of his life, Frances M. Culligan, at. St. Martin of Tours Church in the Bronx. In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is also survived by his daughters and their husbands, Christine and Charles Riedinger of Red Hook, Patricia and Michael Penston of Tivoli, Eileen and Dan Mahoney of Pleasant Valley, Nancy and Rusty Collyer of Livingston, MT; his son-in-law, Michael Dickinson of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Branden, Matthew, Michael, Jonathan, Ryan, Peter, Timmy, Meghan, Joshua, Jessica, Daniel, Cody and Beth; his 10 loving great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Dickinson, on April 21, 2010; his granddaughter, Anne Marie Collyer; and his siblings, Thomas, Claire and John Fallon, and Margaret Schalkham.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. For driving directions, online condolences and memorial donations, please visit Frank's Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Fallon was one of the kindest and most personable individuals I have ever met. He once told me that he sent a check every month to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Because of his lesson of generosity, Cathy and I will follow his example and send a check to St. Jude's each month in the name of Frank Fallon.
