Gerald Secor Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Gerald E. "Jerry" Secor, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 8, 2013. He was born in Poughkeepsie on June 12, 1943 the son of Robert and Mary Anderson Secor. On September 10, 1967 he married Betty R. McGrath in Poughkeepsie. She predeceased him on April 12, 2011. Jerry was a licensed plumber and steamfitter and was a member of Local 201 in Hyde Park, NY and 21 in Peekskill, NY. He worked for Shaker, Travis & Quinn in Poughkeepsie until his retirement in 1997. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, played softball for many years and a huge NY Yankee fan. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Tim S. & Patricia Secor of Ellington, CT and Matthew J. & Amy Secor of Crestview, FL; daughter and son-in-law Allison M. & Bruce Griffing of Poughkeepsie; daughter Melissa L. Noble & Alvin Abalos of Poughkeepsie; brothers William & Richard Secor of Pleasant Valley, NY; sisters: Dolores Coplan of Staatsburg, NY & Virginia Burgin of Poughkeepsie; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Andrea L. Secor and his brother Robert Secor. The family wishes to grieve privately. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice, Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553. My sincere condolences to the Secor Family. Jerry and I grew up together, played a lot of ball together and worked at the same trade together. Although we have not seen each other in many years, I will cherish the memories of our times together, especially those from the neighborhood. RIP old friend until we meet again.
