Geraldine Johnson Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Geraldine Joan Taylor Johnson (Deannie) was born on November 23, 1940 to the late Fred G. and Myrtle Green Taylor, Sr. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Deannie was 73 years young. She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Deannie was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and a proud retiree of Hudson River Psychiatric Center.
Deannie was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Geraldine is survived by her loving and devoted husband Glenn Johnson at home; and their children, Karin (Sudesh) Ruparelia, Jeffrey (Josie) Johnson, Sharon (Yolanda) Johnson and Ronald Johnson all of Poughkeepsie. Darryl (JoAnn) Johnson of Flint, MI, Donald (Rita) Johnson of Elmont, NY, Robert Johnson of Kingston, NY, Glenda (Anthony) Battle of Germantown, MD, Joanne Crawford of Conyers, GA and Kevin (Teresa) Johnson of Nashville, TN. "Mommy, you are the best mother!! We love and miss you dearly. We cling to the knowledge that we will all be together again".
Deannie is also survived by her siblings, Frank (Carolyn) Taylor, Myrtle Shell, Pauline Murphy and Donna Wheatly all of Poughkeepsie, NY and Patricia (Larry) Broadhead of Kingston, NY. Deannie also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Deannie will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Fred Taylor, Jr., Eugene Taylor, Donald Taylor, Charles Smith, Janice Taylor and Carita Taylor.
Mrs. Johnson will lay in repose 10-11am Thursday, February 27, at Ebenezer Baptist Church 2 Winnikee Avenue Poughkeepsie. Services 11am at the church. Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Reverend E. Clayton Wade officiating.
