Jackie Cochran Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Jackie C. Cochran, 72, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on March 27, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Jackie was born in Yonkers, NY on January 26, 1940 to the late Birt and Della Mae Cochran. Jackie was educated in Yonkers school system. He was employed by Verizon and was relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY over 20 years ago. Jackie was a lover of music, enjoyed oil painting, and sang whenever he had the opportunity.
Survivors include; his wife Mary Cochran, sisters; Barbara Smithson and Beatrice Stallworth of Yonkers, NY, Loretta Palmer and Cassandra Guinyard of CT., a brother; Birt Cochran of Yonkers, NY, sons; Jackie Cochran, and Troy Cochran of NYC, Marlow Cochran of Albany, NY, Chandler Cochran of Brunswick, GA, a daughter; Katina Jones Diaz of Yonkers, NY, stepchildren; Wanda Hunt of Poughkeepsie, NY, Edward Hunt of Mesa, AZ, Todd Hunt of Bronx, NY, Paul Hunt of Straton, PA., Tracy Wilson of CT., Thelma Vega and Sheila Henry both of GA., 5 grandchildren, ; several nieces and nephews. Jackie was predeceased by his brother Marvin "Larry" Cochran.
Visitation will be held Saturday March 31, 2012 from 10 - 11AM with a funeral service immediately following from 11AM - 12PM at the Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Manchester Circle Poughkeepsie NY. Burial is at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 So. Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (845) 452-1840. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Cochran (it was only a business relationship). He was the most generous man I have ever met. It saddens me to hear that he is gone. I want to send out my condolences to his wife & family. May Jackie rest in peace.
