James Anderson Obituary

James P. Anderson

Woodlands, TX - James P. Anderson, of The Woodlands, Texas peacefully passed away at home on July 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 84. James' extensive family members were very important to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was born in Salisbury, Connecticut on August 18, 1930 to John and Alice Anderson of Dover Plains, New York where he grew up, and graduated from Dover Plains High School in 1947. Shortly after graduating, he joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. While stationed at Ft. Smith, Arkansas, he married Margaret Ann March on March 5, 1949. After serving his country, he went to work for IBM on May 16, 1951 where he worked for 36 plus years until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed many positions while employed at IBM including overseas assignments in Scotland, Paris, France, and Singapore. His business responsibilities required him to travel the world, which he enjoyed experiencing other cultures and sharing those experiences with his beautiful wife.

After retirement, James and Margaret enjoyed living in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Homosassa, Florida, and The Woodlands, Texas. He enjoyed having his family visit him, and traveling the country and world seeing relatives and places of interest in our blessed country.

James is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret; his eldest daughter of Ohio, Linda Anderson Contessa, and husband, Edward, and their children Eddie (wife Karen), Kimberly (husband Ted); second daughter of England, Dale Anderson Macari, and her husband Lou, and their children Michael, Paul (wife Charlotte), and Jonathan, who preceded him in death in 1999; eldest son, Thomas Anderson of Texas, and his wife, Sally, and their children Lindsay (husband Caleb), and Tyler; second son, James Anderson of Georgia, and his wife, Sunnidawn, and their children August, Patrick, Zachery, and Benjamin. He is also survived by brothers, Richard of Florida and Edward of New York.

James is also survived by great-grandchildren, Enzo & Gio Contessa, Kane & Lydia Conroy, Piper Stephenson, Tommy, Lewis, Joseph and Taylor Macari, and Audrey Love. James is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Alice Anderson, brothers, John, William, Robert, Gerald, and Ronald Anderson.

A Mass celebrating James' life will be at 11:00 am on Friday July 24, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, The Woodlands TX, followed by a reception at the church. Burial will be at Houston National Cemetery for Veterans at 2:30 pm. Condolences can be left on-line at McNutt Funeral Home, Conroe, TX. Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to Fishers Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd Street, 16th floor, New York, NY 10017.
