Joan Gorba Obituary
Lagrange, New York - Joan Gorba, 76 of the Town of LaGrange, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at home. Joan was born on August 29, 1942 in Manhattan, NY to the late Frank Moncado and Gertrude Egenolf. She married William "Joe" Gorba on August 26, 1972 at the First Dutch Reformed Church in Fishkill, NY. He predeceased her on December 30, 2017.
A local resident, Joan graduated from The Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC where she received her LPN and later graduated from Dutchess Community College with her RN Degree in 1988.
Joan completed her 50 year nursing career this past year. She retired from Mid Hudson Medical Group after 30 years. Then became a substitute nurse at the Arlington School District which she left this past June to complete her 50 years. She also loved her part time job at the Poughkeepsie Senior Center. She was a 45 year member of the First Dutch Reformed Church where she served in many capacities. Joan enjoyed reading, was a cat lover, as well as, all animals. She volunteered at the DCSCPA, as well as, the Animal Rescue Foundation.
Joan is survived by her children, Janet (Brett) Sivo of Ellicott City, MD, Michele (Christopher) Pisanelli of Poughkeepsie, NY, Suzanne Adams of Concord, NC, Ed Doherty of Marlborough, NY, grandchildren Brian, Zachary and Sean Sivo, Brenna and Samantha Pisanelli, Vanessa and Collin Adams, William and Harley Doherty and their mother Kristina Coleman. Joan is also survived by her brother Frank (Kathyrn) Moncado of Williamsport, PA.
There will be an hour visitation from 10am to 11am with a Memorial Service starting at 11am at the First Reformed Church of Fishkill on Saturday November 3, 2018.

I am so sorry to hear of Joan's passing. She was my frequent sub at Netherwood Elementary. We had a lot of laughs and I always enjoyed working with her. My sincerest condolences and prayers for all.

I was so shocked when I learned of Joan's sudden passing. We worked together at the Medical Group in Fishkill. She was a hard worker & loved to chat! She always talked about her wonderful children & of course Joe. She will be greatly missed.
