Joan Mulcahy Obituary

Joan Patricia

Mulcahy

Highland - Joan Patricia Mulcahy, 70, a long time Highland resident formerly of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born September 20, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy Lake Ballassone.

She worked for Highland Assisted Living as a Personal Care Assistant until her retirement in April 2013.

Joan was a wonderful and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was the type of person that would sacrifice her own needs so the people around her would be comfortable. She was caring, giving, and passionate. Not only was she the greatest mother, but one of the most generous and loving persons in the world. We wish her a peaceful journey and she will be greatly missed.

On February 19, 1966 in St. Peter's Church, she married Hugh Mulcahy Sr. Mr. Mulcahy survives at home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Hugh Mulcahy Jr., of Highland, Christine Mulcahy of Poughkeepsie, Melissa Mulcahy of Highland, and Pamela Mulcahy of Maine; brother, Louis Ballassone of Rhinebeck; sisters, Helen Pease, Carol Ballassone, Michelle Ballassone, and Dawn Fozo, all of Poughkeepsie, Donna Croshier of Highland, and Diane Campbell of Poughkeepsie; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 Pm, Friday, August 9th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., 4365 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park.

A Funeral Service will take place at 2:30 PM during the calling hours.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Joan's family respectfully requests memorial donations to her family c/o Sweet's Funeral Home, PO Box 682, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
