John Coons Obituary
Red Hook - John C. "Jack" Coons, Jr, 82, a lifelong Red Hook resident, passed away on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Born on June 21, 1934, in Barrytown, NY, he was the son of the late John H. and Emma Martha (Whitney) Coons. Jack married Alice M. Westcott on November 25, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, NY and she predeceased him on February 22, 1991.
Jack worked for many years at the Red Hook Farmer's Co-op and also as a Motor Equipment Operator with NYS Department of Transportation, based out of Red Hook.
He was a life member of Red Hook Fire Company and an avid NY Mets fan.
He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Wendy (Arvine Bucky Coon, Jr.) Coon of Red Hook; his two sons, Jeffrey (Cindy) Coons of Milan, and Wayne C. (Barbara) Coons of Red Hook; his sisters, Judy Carpino of Kingston, and Marion C Tocco of Red Hook; his grandchildren, Arvine Pete Coon III, John Coon, Chandler Coons, Ashlee Vucich, and Jeremy Coons; his great grandchildren, Liliana Coon, Emily Coon, Arvine Jack Coon IV, Emmett Coon, Robert Coon, Lorraine Coon, Jacob Vucich and Clinton Vucich; along with numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Bert, Richard, Robert, and Charles Coons; and a sister, Henrietta Day.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 from 2 - 4 & 6-8 PM. The Red Hook Fire Company will conduct services for their departed member at 6:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Red Hook Fire Company, PO Box 100, Red Hook, NY 12571.
Arrangements are under the direction of Burnett & White Funeral Homes 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY.
