New Paltz - John Perrone, age 84, of New Paltz, NY died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. He was born December 3, 1931 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Salvatore and Maria Concetta (Pomilla) Perrone.

John was a veteran of the US Army. He was a Founding Member of the Etruscan Lodge-Order Sons of Italy; the American Legion- Highland Post; St. Joseph's Church in New Paltz; the Plattekill Senior Citizens; the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie and the BPOE Elks in New Paltz.

He was also a member of the Masonic Order Knights Templar.

He was the owner and operator of Perrone Insurance in Highland, NY for many years. John also served as the Ulster County Under Sherriff and was a retired member of the Sherriff's Association.

John was predeceased by his wife, Rose Badami Perrone on August 29, 2006. He is survived by one daughter: Maria Cordaro of New Paltz, NY; two grandchildren, Andrea Cordaro and Francesco Cordaro, both of New Paltz, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Biagio Francesco and Anita Perrone of Highland, NY; his niece and nephew, Maryann Perrone and Joseph Perrone; his longtime companion, Kathryn Leete at home; step-sons, William, Jeffrey, Steven and Allan Leete. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his nephew, Salvatore Perrone and step-son, James Leete.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 4 - 7:00 pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz, NY, followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
