Robert A. “Benny” Bennett, 76, of Lomontville, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at home surrounded by loving family. He was born on March 11, 1949, in Kingston, NY and was the son of the late Robert Bennett and June (Johnston) Bennett.
He is a graduate of Rondout Valley High School class of 1968, He then joined the Navy and served from June 1969 to March 1973. He served aboard the USS FDR aircraft carrier. He spent a year in a half in Moracco, North Africa.
He worked for Freihofer’s bakery in New Paltz as a rout salesman from 1973-1996. Then he worked for Eddie Nekos at Nekos Luncheonette until his retirement.
Robert is survived by his sister Madge Whispel of Hurley, Ida May Wright, (Walter) of Lomontville, Mary Farrell of Lomontville. He is survived by 2 nieces and 6 nephews. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, several cousins and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his niece/goddaughter Ida Jean Wright, brother in laws Tim Farrell and Ronald Whispell
Robert loved playing softball, and watching New York Yankees, and hanging out with family and friends.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm. Burial will take place at North Marbletown Cemetery on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11am. A tribute for Robert can be found at www.KeyserFuneralService.com, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.
