John Upton Obituary
John Upton, 83, passed away on August 21, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona due to a prolonged illness. He was born July 2, 1931 in Newburgh, New York. He was a tool and die maker by trade, worked at IBM for several years, then moved to California to work as a machine salesman.
He is survived by Liz, his wife of 43 years; a brother, Stan & his wife Maureen; his children, Yvette, John J., Elizabethe, Bryan, Alan, and Lyle; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, Gail & Lorraine, and nephew David. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ronda and his daughter, Eva.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Melcher Mission Chapel, 6625 E. Main St. in Mesa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phoenix Children's Hospital. Condolences may be left in John's online guest book at www.melchermission.com.

Aunt Liz, so nice to talk with you the other day.
Out of the memories that have been swirling around in my head the past few days: Sometime during the early 70's, during one of your trips to Newburgh, my mother and John would inevitably make attempts to sing some old (to me, anyway) songs as I accompanied them on the piano. John's rendition of "For the good times" still resonates in my memory to this day - such a touching, heartfelt reading of the song.......

glad I was able to enjoy his company when you both visited
me in California and when I was able to visit you both in Arizona. He will
