Joseph Sackelos Obituary
New Hamburg, N.Y. - Joseph C. Sackelos, Sr., 88, of New Hamburg, N.Y., passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center.
He was born in Brooklyn February 12, 1929, the son of James G. Sackelos and Margaret Heather Sackelos. On September 11, 1955, he married the former Lois M. Hamiltton, who died Nov. 15, 2015. Joe was employed as an electrician at N.Y. Trap Rock (Tilcon) for many years. He was also a member of Wappingers Council #1646 Knights of Columbus, and a past commissioner and life member of New Hamburg Engine Co. # 1. Joe served in the Korean War from '51-'52, in the Army.
Surviving are his sons, Joseph Sackelos(Maria) of Fishkill, James Sackelos(Colleen) of Wappingers Falls, and a daughter, Joy Carozza(Erik) of Fishkill, Grandchildren, Tara Brogan, Donato Carozza, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Brogan, a sister, Margaret D'Esposito, and a brother, George Sackelos.
Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, Monday from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial St. Marys Cemetery.
