LaGrangeville - Judy died peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a short illness, surrounded by her family. She was 71.

Born in the Bronx on October 21, 1949 to Robert Monroe and Ida Monroe (nee Manganella), she was the second of seven children.

Judy graduated from Clarkstown High School in 1967 and received her Associates Degree from Rockland Community College in 1969. Shortly after, she began her first career at Kaiser Jeep, and continued to work for American Motors after they merged.

She met the love of her life, James Marra, in 1972 and they were married in 1975. They welcomed two daughters. Judy retired from American Motors to care for her daughters, and became a fixture at PTA meetings, school concerts and plays, and softball games.

Once her girls were older, she began working for the Arlington School District in 1994. She was one of the attendance secretaries at Arlington High School, retiring in November 2020 after 26 years.

Judy loved nothing more than to cook for her family, keeping old family recipes alive and adding new ones to her massive handwritten cookbook. Her food rivaled that of the finest Italian restaurants. She also loved watching the Food Network, gardening with her husband, and most of all, taking her grandkids to Freedom Lake during the summer.

She is survived at home by her husband of 45 years, Jim; her daughter Lisa and her husband Rich; her daughter Teresa and her husband Peter; and her beloved grandkids Richard and Elena. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Anita, Suzanne, Charles, Tony, Robert, Peter, and their spouses; her sisters-in-law Jean, Beth and their spouses, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her in-laws.

There will be no calling hours, and a celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to either the Dutchess County SPCA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.
