Julia Piga

Beacon - Julia Piga, a lifelong resident of Beacon, passed away at Wingate at Beacon on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. She was 84 years old.

The daughter of Angelina Gasaro and Joseph DeRobertis, she was born on April 17, 1928 in Beacon. She married Clarence Piga on April 17, 1949 in Beacon. Julia was a seamstress at Crescent Lingerie and Beacon Looms where she retired. Julia enjoyed going to flea markets with her daughters, reading books, doing crosswords and puzzles and working in the yard.

Julia is survived by her husband, Clarence; her three daughters, Susan Pennacchio and her husband, Frank, JoAnn Cable and her husband, Danny and Karen Piga; her three grandchildren, Patrick Pennacchio and his wife, Virginia, Daniel Cable, Jr. and Jessica and Jason Cable and Damaris; her four great grandchildren, Erin Pennacchio, Alyssa and Isabella Cable and Jason Cable, Jr.; four step great grandchildren, Tara, Kayla, Kelsey and Antonio; many nieces and nephews.

Julia was predeceased by her brother, Alex DeRobertis.

The family will receive their friends on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow in the Fishkill Rural Community Mausoleum, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.

Memorial donations in memory of Julia may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 1129, Beacon, New York 12508.

We had a lot of laughs . Loved playing games, shopping, flea markets and the baseball games. Just being with her and seeing her smile was It was special moment. It's been 7 years and I miss her very much.
