Keith Harrison

Poughkeepsie - Keith Lamont Harrison was born in Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, NY on July 30, 1960 to the late Carole (Bridges) Harrison and Jerome Albert Harrison Sr. He passed away in Poughkeepsie, NY on Thursday, October 13, 2016.

Keith graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and lifelong friend, Valarie Helms. He then went straight to the Marine Corps where he excelled to Sargent, and left a war veteran. Keith married twice first to Carol Fisher, and then to Arlene.

In 2001, he came to New York to help his mom who was ill with the raising of his nieces, Tiffany and Sharon Gwathney, after the passing of his mom Carole, he relocated permanently after living many years in California and Indiana. Keith became a father to the joy of his life, Miles Lamont Harrison on December 12, 2003. Broken hearts are shared and many tears for his son, Miles, brother, Jerome, his sister, Lacey his nieces Tiffany and Sharon will be shed. Keith always spoke high and lovingly of Miles. He was a friend to many and will be missed forever by his son Miles; Miles Mother, Kim; brother, Chaz and sister, Kiana. Keith will also be missed by a host of family and friends. Keith had a persevering spirit and smart as a whip, he was a nursing student at Dutchess Community College this fall. He was a very well-liked person. A lot of people often went to him for advice and inspiration.

We can go on and on about Keith's many accomplishments but I'm afraid that will take forever. No he wasn't a saint, he was a human being with faults like the rest of us, but he was a person who knew what he wanted in life and even though he was well aware of the fact that he was experiencing health issues it didn't deter him from trying to reach his goals. Keith will truly be missed and was the greatest father, uncle, brother and friend. On behalf of his family and friends we will always carry your memory in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, Keith was predeceased by his older brother, Darren and older sister, Sharon.

A Memorial service for Mr. Harrison will be 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Rev. Sheila Butler will officiate.
