Lois Sackelos Obituary
New Hamburg, N.Y. - Lois M. Sackelos, 89, of New Hamburg, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home.
She was born in New Hamburg on June 6, 1926, the daughter of Alexander Hamilton, Sr. and Gertrude Gallagher Hamilton. On September 11, 1955, she married Joseph C. Sackelos at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls.
Lois was a life member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club, and Ladies Auxilary, the New Hamburg Fire Co. Auxilary. She enjoyed helping others, and was known as the mayor of New Hamburg.
Surviving are her husband, at home, Children, Joseph Sackellos and Maria of Fishkill, James Sackelos and Colleen of Wappingers Falls, and Joy Carozza of Fishkill, Grandchildren, Tara Brogan, and Danny Carozza. a sister-in-law, Julia Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Brogan, a brother, Alexander Hamilton Jr., and sisters, Agnes Herring and Joy Mullen.
Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial St. Marys Cemetery.

My sincere condolences to the Sackelos family. Lois was a very generous person and looked after all of us growing up in New Hamburg. She served us well as mayor of our town. I have fond memories of hanging out on the "hill" with your family. May she rest in peace.
