Marjorie Fleck Obituary

Marjorie Hey Fleck

Marjorie Hey Fleck, born on April 12, 1937 in Lawrence, MA, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She fought her illnesses with grace and dignity and died in her home. She was the youngest of Mary Theresa and William L. Hey's four children. In 1959, she married William B. (Ben) Fleck and moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, where they raised 5 daughters. She enriched their lives through piano and swim lessons, ice skating, and by coaching basketball. She ensured they created positive friendships. Most importantly, she taught them kindness. For over 20 years, Margie was employed by the Archdiocese of New York at Holy Trinity Church as the parish secretary. In 1997, Margie and Ben moved back to her home state and settled in Falmouth, where they enjoyed many years on The Cape. Margie made wonderful friendships through her bridge group, Newcomers, the Falmouth Historical Society and her exercise classes.

She is survived by her devoted husband Ben, daughters: Mary Fleck and her husband Jim Brawley of Seattle, WA; Anne Ewalt and her husband Joe of Seattle, WA; Patricia Edwards and her husband Ralph of Norfolk, VA; Nancy Stockman and her husband John of Rocky Hill, CT; and Elizabeth Fleck of Seattle, WA. She was also an amazing nana to 3 granddaughters: Katherine and Elizabeth Stockman, and Kathleen Brawley. Her many wonderful nieces and nephews extend from Sandwich, MA to Wasilla, AK. She is pre-deceased by her brother Allen Hey and sister Marion McKiernan. Her surviving sister, Dorothy Stewart, resides in Andover, Mass.

Visitation will be held at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St, Falmouth MA, from 9-10am on Saturday May 14, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth MA. Burial will be private. For online guestbook, obituary and directions, please visit www.ccgfuneral home.com.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Having your family as my neighbors was fun (especially those New Year's Day breakfast's we had together!) Memories will always be cherished.

First, I am sorry to read of Marjorie Fleck's death. I was looking for the obituary of a doctor and I looked in Elmwood instead of Elmira. (Doctor Pugliese).Because I have looked for members of the Coakley family; I recognized the name Hey and the Lawrence, MA reference. It gives me goosebumps. My mother was Helen Coakley, Timothy's daughter. He died in 1914 and was buried in Lawrence by his sister Nora Coakley. I spend some time researching the family but this is a real coincidence. My mother grew up not knowing her extended family and here I am stumbling to them. I am patty farrell and i live in lake ariel, pa if you can contact me i would cherish it. it is just too odd to let this chance slip by. I will also email her obituary to our cousin in Kerry, Michael McNamara.
