Mark Goettel Obituary
New Port Richey, FL - On July 19, 2018, Mark (56) passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and raised in La Grange, NY, Mark was a graduate of Arlington High School, Marist College, and Samford University Cumberland School of Law.
Years of early mornings were spent rowing or coaching crew on the Hudson River, until he left for law school In Birmingham, Alabama. He approached life with the same dedication and perseverance he developed catching sunrise behind his oar.
He began his career with The Florida State Attorney's Office, and eventually opened his own practice. He was a caring and competent trial attorney, and practiced law in Florida until time of his death.
In 1994 Mark married Lynn Mathison in Port Richey, FL.
Lynn survives with their daughter Hana Goettel of Wesley Chapel, FL, and son Kyle (Kari) of Erie, CO.
Mark was predeceased by his parents Isabelle, and Arlyss (Al) Goettel of La Grange, NY.
He is survived by brothers Alan W, (Colleen), of Stanfordville, NY, and Glenn D. Goettel (Lena), nephew Daniel, and niece Heather Goettel of Hyde Park, NY.
Mark's colleagues in Florida are working on setting up a fund for Hana to complete her R.N. education requirements. More information and condolences can be made to his Face Book Account, or through [email protected].

So very saddened to hear this. Mark and I worked together at the SAO many years ago. We crossed paths many times over the last few decades while working in the dependency system. Good man! Condolences and prayers for Lynn and their children.
