This might be a little late, however I just received the news of Martha's passing. Martha 's family and my family were very close when we lived in the Bronx. We stayed close through the years. Martha taught me medical transcription and a chance to work at home while raising my son. I made many trips to to her home in Westchester County. I am very thankful for her patience and guidance. As is the case with many people we lost our connection when I moved to California. I have thought of her and her daughters and wondered how they all were.
If any daughters see my email address please send me an email. I would love to hear from you.
I am very sad at her passing.

I never had the opportunity to meet Martha in person, but I got to know her through her posts on the Facebook group, America`s Amtrak. She was a truly unique woman who was fascinating to talk to, even if it was online. I wish that I was able to attend the service for Martha, however, I am currently in Toulouse, France. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Wherever Martha is now, you can be sure it`s riding the rails and taking it all in to weave into a fascinating story for when we see her again. Everyone who knew Martha is richer for having had the opportunity to know her.

I'm sorry to hear of this. I worked with Martha for a number of years and enjoyed her wit, humor, and innovation. She was a mentor to me at work and I was very fond of her. I think she's a person who touched many lives.

Like so many others, I "met" Martha on Facebook through our mutual love of rail travel. Martha's passion for life, adventurous spirit, generosity and boundless curiosity were contagious and inspiring. We will miss you greatly, Martha. Meet you in the Sightseer someday. Enjoy your eternal ride.

I met Martha five years ago in the Metro Lounge at Chicago's Union Station. I was waiting to take my first trip in sleeper on the Texas Eagle. Lucky me, she was not only on the same train, but the same car! She showed me the ropes of traveling in sleeper, and we share meals and many hours of conversation on that trip. She was making mittens with a string between them so they wouldn't get lost for the grandkids. She loved telling me about them and her children, and how proud she was of all of them and their accomplishments. When it was time for me to get off the train in Fort Worth, we exchanged numbers and hugs, and she told me I should join the new Facebook page she had started with a friend called, The Amtrak Pros, which I did. We organized MeetUps in Chicago and spent days wandering the city with other train friends from Facebook. There were MeetUps in other cities too, and I saw her many times over these years. I had always hoped to come east and she was going to show me D.C. and other historic places. I suppose when I go, she will be there alongside me in spirit now. You were all so blessed to have her in your life. She was a wonderful lady and I hope these wishes bring a smile to your heart in these days learning to live without dear Martha; aléha hashalóm.
