Michael Dolfinger Obituary

Michael James Dolfinger

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Michael James Dolfinger, 70, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18th at the Holy Cross Hospital.

Born in Poughkeepsie, New York on October 21st, 1946 to Charles and Mary Dolfinger, he spent the beginning of his life in New York State.

He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School then went directly to serve in the U.S. Navy. He served from August 1964- October 1967 on the USS Yosemite, earning the rank of ETN3 as a Communications, Repair and Electronics Electrician. He was then employed by Simplex in New York and Connecticut. He also served as the Marketing Manager at Southern New England Telecommunications in Connecticut and finished his career at Bell South in South Florida before retiring in 2007.

Mike was a loving husband to his wife of 22 years, Debbie. He was incredibly proud of his children and their families, and he not only told them but also showed them through his actions.

Mike was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New York Jets. He loved listening to music, dancing, running, basketball, tennis, gardening and cooking with his wife, Debbie. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends on his boat in Long Island Sound as well as at his vacation home in Vermont. The Atlantis in the Bahamas was his favorite vacation spot. Mike loved relaxing at the beach, telling jokes and was always up for an impromptu game of "OR." He loved having family and friends over on Friday nights to celebrate life.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Debra Dolfinger, children Kristian (Elizabeth) Dolfinger, Sarah (Mark) Hoffman; stepchildren, Karl (Katie) Nitowski, Tara Nitowski, grandchildren, Morrisan Sasso, Jaxson Hoffman, Michael and Bella Dolfinger; Maci, Bailey and Jack Nitowski; sister, Eileen Farruggella and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his brother, Charlie Dolfinger, Jr.

Mike was a loving and gregarious man, who opened his heart and home to everyone. Family and friends will celebrate his life on Saturday, September 2nd at St. Coleman's Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established through the American Heart Association in Michael's honor: http://honor.ameri canheart.org/goto/Michael_Dolfinger
