Bruce A. Stickter, aged 86, passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2025, in Staatsburg,
New York with his family by his side. Born on May 21, 1939, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Bruce was a lifelong resident and a well-known figure in the community.
Bruce attended Poughkeepsie High School through junior year but graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls in 1958. He later graduated from Dutchess Community College.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own several local businesses, including Multi Wiring, Northside Pizza, and Bruces Hot Dog Canteen.
On October 19, 1958, he married the love of his life Barbara Stingone at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, New York, marking the beginning of a cherished and enduring partnership. This October they were blessed to celebrate 67 years of marriage with their children by their side enjoying a beautiful fall day together.
Bruce was a passionate sports enthusiast, especially fond of the New York Mets and New York Jets. He enjoyed frequent trips to Saratoga, savoring the thrill of the races. His love for sports also extended to listening to sports programs on the radio, a pastime that brought him much joy. In recent years he became a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs in support of his grandchildren in Georgia that attend & graduated from UGA.
In high school Bruce was a skilled athlete playing football, basketball and baseball. He was a true competitor through and through.
Bruce leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Stickter of Staatsburg; his children, Bruce A. Stickter and wife Susan Gerace-Stickter of Rhinebeck, Stephanie Stickter and partner Tony Arico of Staatsburg, Brian Stickter and fiancée Nicole Rosenfeld of Dallas, Georgia, and Antoinette and John Ross of Canton, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Joseph, Hunter, Cole, Gabby, Dean, and Gina. He is also survived by his brother Alfred Stickter, niece Heidi Herzfeld and husband Bernie Herzfeld as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Bruce was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey Stickter as well as his parents Gladys
and Alfred Stickter.
Services for Bruce will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie, New York, is assisting the family during this time. Bruce's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a dedicated family man, a successful businessman, and a loyal friend. Barbara and Family, I´m so sorry for your loss of your husband and Father. I remember some of the stories Teddy and his Mom Rose would tell me about Bruce. I only met him a couple of times but you can tell the love he had for his family.
