Ellen L. Braren

Tillson - With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Ellen Louise Braren, our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother on February 14, 2026, at the age of 74. A longtime resident of Tillson, New York, she passed quietly, leaving behind a family who was the center of her world and the greatest source of her pride.
Born on March 19, 1951, in San Francisco, California, she was the daughter of Louis and Helen D'Amicantonio. She later settled in New York, graduating from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1969 and completing coursework at Dutchess Community College before beginning her career in clerical work.

She spent many meaningful years working alongside Monsignor Brennan in the rectory of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, followed by her time at St. Peter's School in Rosendale, New York. While she was a private person by nature, she formed strong and lasting connections through her work, earning respect and trust through her reliability, dedication, and quiet presence.

Her life was defined not by how widely she shared herself, but by how deeply she loved. Fiercely loyal and unwaveringly devoted, her family always came first. After retiring from Coffee Systems in Rifton, New York, she devoted herself fully to what she considered her most important role-caring for her grandchildren. Being with them, watching them grow, and supporting them in everyday moments brought her immense joy and purpose.

Ellen shared a profound bond with her husband Mark, rooted in love, partnership, and years of shared routines and simple pleasures, especially their time spent going out to eat together. In her later years, as she faced dementia, he cared for her with steadfast devotion and compassion, remaining by her side through every challenge, a testament to the depth of their love.

She will be remembered as a woman of loyalty, and deep feeling-someone whose love ran strongest and truest for those closest to her. Her legacy lives on in her family, who carry her devotion and love forward every day.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mark; brothers John, Tom (Christine) and Mike (Patty); her children Mike (Maureen) and Meg (Liam); and her grandchildren, Reid, Madison, Quinn, Paige, and Maeve. She will be deeply missed and forever held close in the hearts of those who loved her most.

A memorial service will be held in the mausoleum at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery, located at 205 West O'Reilly St., Kingston, NY on Friday, February 20th at 12:00 PM.
