Edward Thomas Hill

New Paltz, NY – Edward T. Hill died on Friday March 6, 2026. He was 88 years old. Edward was born on February 19, 1938 to Joseph and Mary (Gaffney) Hill and raised in Rosendale, NY. He was a proud alumnus of Fordham University, having graduated in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. After finishing college, he took over management of the family business, Hill Trandle, a beer distributorship.
In 1963, he married Evelyn (Beck). They settled in Rosendale and went on to welcome two children, Joseph and Edward II, as well as many Saint Bernards. Later, they moved to Hurley, and then, as empty nesters, to Ulster Park, before eventually moving to Woodland Pond in New Paltz.

In 1973, he sold Hill Trandle and pursued a career as a commercial real estate broker. Ed was the ninth person in New York State to achieve the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation. Ed had a very successful career as a broker, investor, and developer. A regular family joke is that he bought more real estate than he sold, but it all worked out very well. His hobbies included sailing, skiing, and traveling, having visited all fifty states and six continents. He also enjoyed spending winters in Puerto Rico. Ed was known as a genuinely friendly and positive person with an ability to connect with anyone.

Ed was pre-deceased by his parents and both his brothers, Joseph and John. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn, and his two sons Joseph (Cathy) and Edward (Rattiya), as well as five grandchildren (Thomas, Christian, Vanessa, Justin, and Andrew).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Rosendale, NY on Saturday, March 14. 2026 Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Rosendale. Arrangements by George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc. in Rosendale.
