High Falls - Anthony A. Aversano, 84, of High Falls, died on Sunday February 8, 2026 at HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston.
Anthony was born in Brooklyn September 30, 1941. He was predeceased by his father, Augustine and mother, Angelina, his brothers, Joseph, Augustine, Vincent, and Michael, and his sisters Maryann and Rose. He is survived by his wife Janet, his sons Jason, wife Michele, and Peter, wife Deanna, and daughters Maryann and Jeannine. His pride and joy grandchildren, Sofia, Amelia, and Anthony. Anthony came from a large family many neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom he adored.
He lived in Brooklyn for forty five years, moved to High Falls in the 80's and retired to Wellborn, Florida in 2005.
He worked for 45 years as a longshoreman and maintenance for UCCC as well as working alongside many local tradesman here in Marbletown. There wasn't a single thing he couldn't fix or solve. He had a love for animals that was almost as strong as for his family. His passion was horses earned him the nickname, Brooklyn Cowboy, he had Peruvian Paso's here in NY and in Florida. He was a member of the NEPHC for over 20 years attending countless shows and making many friends along the way, even winning a Best in Show blue ribbon. He loved yards sales looking for treasure. He was known far and wide and loved just the same and will be missed endlessly by all who knew him.
Memorial visitation will be on Tuesday February 17 from 4 to 6 PM at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. At 6 PM following the visitation Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate his funeral service. Cremation was held privately.
Memorial donations are requested to Marbletown First Aid Unit or to Hudson Valley Hospice HVHospice.org
