High Falls - Robert (Bob) P. DePuy, High Falls, NY – Robert (Bob) P. DePuy passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 91. He was born on December 8, 1934, to the late Floyd and Violet Quick DePuy and grew up in
New Paltz, NY working on his family-owned farm. Bob served in the National Guard then enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955 receiving the Army of Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1977 he married the love of his life, Marthabelle North, and together they started their journey in High Falls, NY. In later years, they relocated to
Lomontville, NY. Bob was employed at the Ulster County Community College in the Maintenance Department for 22 years, retiring in 1998. Over the course of his life, he was involved in many endeavors that included being a volunteer fireman with the High Falls Fire Department for 30 years, an ambulance and taxi driver for his brother's Rosendale-based business Don's Ambulance and Taxi Service, and a member of the Marbletown Sportsmen's Club and the VFW Post 686 in High Falls. Bob was also an avid and skilled sportsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Upon his retirement, he took great pleasure tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, traveling to different States with his wife Marthabelle to visit family, listening to country and western music on the radio, tinkering in his work shed on numerous projects, and in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marthabelle North DePuy, his children David DePuy, Joanne DePuy and Kevin DePuy, his brother Don DePuy, his sisters Marion McIntosh and Gloria Toboika, and his cherished dog, Foofer, and cat companion, Chubbs. He is survived by his stepchildren Rose Pine (Frank), Joseph McCardle, Jr. (Barbara), Lisa McCardle, and John North (Andrew), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Bob's stepchildren would like to extend their gratitude for the caring staff of the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center over these many months, the staff and homecare aides from Unlimited Care who assisted him prior to his stay at Golden Hill, and the many compassionate family members and friends who regularly visited him (and brought chocolate brownies, cake and other sweet treats) and called him and sent cards.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the George J. Moylan Funeral Home in
Rosendale, NY. Visitation for family and friends is on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm. A private family funeral service will be held with the Rev. Arlene Dawber officiating. Interment will be in High Falls Cemetery.
