Stephen Hollop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home - Poughkeepsie on Feb. 21, 2026.
Stephen George Hollop August 2, 1950 – February 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that a great man, Stephen George Hollop, 75, of Stormville, NY, "made it West" on Monday, February 16, 2026. Born on August 2, 1950, in Yonkers, NY, to Marion and John Hollop, Steve was the middle brother of Walter, Paul, Gregory, and John.

On June 19, 1971, Steve married his sweetheart, Carol Ann (née Corrado), in Mt. Vernon, NY. The couple moved to Dutchess County in 1974, where Steve went on to make many lifelong friends through his employment at the Wappingers Central School District, serving as the glazier for the district for many years. Best known for his upbeat sense of humor, sarcasm, and legendary ability to tell a joke, Steve was a straight shooter-who you met was exactly who he was. A true egalitarian in all aspects of his life, he drank with everyone from bus drivers to superintendents and treated them all exactly the same. He spent many of his Sundays at the Twin Lakes Sportsman Association and the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club. He loved cooking for his family, his friends at the Gun Club, and his dogs over the years (who he swore ate better than most people). The lesser-known Steve was a voracious reader from childhood, consuming dozens of books-especially Westerns-each year well into his older age. A self-proclaimed "fountain of useless knowledge," he treated the morning crossword puzzle accordingly-in pen.

Steve was predeceased by his parents and his youngest brother, John. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Ann; his daughter, Charmaine; his son, Michael (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Mason, Sophia, Riley, Aubrey, and Connor; his brothers, Walter (Marsha), Paul (Kathy), and Gregory (Karen); and many nieces and nephews, especially Sherry.

Please join us for a celebration of life for Stephen George Hollop on Sunday, March 1st, at 1:00 PM at The Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club, 540 Route 376, Hopewell Junction, NY.
