Michael Reed Obituary
Poughkeepsie, NY - Michael E. Reed of Poughkeepsie, NY born on January 7, 1956, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Michael was the son of John M. Reed of Millbrook, NY and the late Elizabeth Rose Reed. He is survived by his siblings John J. Reed (Susan Simovich) of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Lawrence Reed of LaGrange, NY, Julie Reed of Pleasant Valley, NY and Glenn Reed of Stanfordville, NY as well as stepmother Barbara Reed.
Mike was a graduate of Arlington HS and Arizona State University. He worked as a drug counselor at several private facilities and then for the State of New York Department of Parole in NYC from where he retired to move back to Poughkeepsie.
Mike was adventurous, having lived in Arizona, California and New York City. Recently, he had enjoyed traveling with his brother John and parents visiting England, Maine and Virginia. He loved working out at the gym and was often seen walking with his devoted companion Hercules, his pure bred German Shepherd.
Services will be private at the request of the family but a celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Tufts Medical Center Trust, 800 Washington Street #231, Boston, MA 02111 and indicate that you are donating to the Babesiosis Research Fund or the American Lyme Disease Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 466, Lyme, CT 06371.
